ANCOR
Since 1970 the American Network of Community Options & Resources (ANCOR)
has been the preeminent voice in Washington on behalf of private agencies
that provide services and supports to people with mental retardation and other
developmental disabilities.
The
Arc of the United States
The Arc is the worlds largest community based organization of and for
people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
AUCD
The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) is the national
association representing University Affiliated Programs (UAP), Maternal and
Child Health Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities
Programs (LEND), and the Developmental Disabilities Research Centers (DDRCs).
CCD
The Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) is a coalition of approximately
100 national disability organizations working together to advocate for national
public policy that ensures the self-determination, independence, empowerment,
integration, and inclusion of children and adults with disabilities in all
aspects of society.
CQL
The Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL) is an international nonprofit
organization dedicated to advancing the quality of services and supports to
people with disabilities. This is accomplished through its accreditation services,
training programs, and research division.
DDMED
The DDMED website is provided by the Alabama Department of Mental Health and
Mental Retardation. Healthcare information is provided for the professional
or the family caregiver. The DDMED consultative program provides a roadmap
to healthcare professionals who manage persons with intellectual disability
and other health problems such as mental illness or neurological disorders.

Families USA is a national nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to
the achievement of high-quality, affordable health care for all Americans.
HSRI
The Human Services Research Institute (HSRI) was established in 1976 with
the express purpose of assisting states and the federal government to enhance
services and supports to people with mental illness and people with intellectual
disabilities, and to support the development of alternatives to congregate
care facilities.
NACDD
The National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities Councils
(NACDD) mission is to provide support and assistance to member councils in
order to promote a consumer and family centered system of services and supports
for individuals with developmental disabilities.
NADD
The National Association for the Dually Diagnosed (NADD) is a nonprofit membership
association established for professionals, care providers, and families to
promote understanding of and services for individuals who have developmental
disabilities and mental health needs.
NAPAS
The National Association of Protection & Advocacy System (NAPAS), the
voluntary national membership association of protection and advocacy systems
and client assistance programs, assumes leadership in promoting and strengthening
the role and performance of its members in providing quality legally based
advocacy services.
NASMD
The National Association of State Medicaid Directors (NASMD) is a bipartisan,
professional, nonprofit organization of representatives of state Medicaid
agencies (including the District of Columbia and the territories).
NASMHPD
The National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD)
organizes to reflect and advocate for the collective interests of State Mental
Health Authorities and their directors at the national level.
NASMHPD
Research Institute
The NASMHPD Research Institute, Inc. (NRI) studies Issues in the delivery
of public mental health services supported by state mental health agencies.
The Research Institute responds to current needs for objective analyses and
basic information and attempts to facilitate the application of state mental
health programs.
NCI
In January 1997, the Association, in partnership with the Human Services Research
Institute (HSRI), a nonprofit policy research firm based in Cambridge Massachusetts,
launched the Core Indicators Project. The name of the activity was changed
in 2002 to National Core Indicators (NCI) program in order to better reflect
the ongoing status of this interstate initiative.
NASUA
The National Association of State Units on Aging (NASUA) was founded in 1964
as a national nonprofit membership organization comprised of the 57 state
and territorial government agencies on aging.
NCSL
The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) is a bipartisan organization
dedicated to serving the lawmakers and staffs of the nation's 50 states, its
commonwealths, and territories. The Conference is a source for research, publications,
consulting services, meetings, and seminars. It is the national conduit for
lawmakers to communicate with one another and share ideas. The Conference
is an effective and respected voice for the states in Washington, D.C., representing
their interests before Congress, the administration, and federal agencies.
NGA
The National Governors Association (NGA) is the collective voice of the nation's
governors and one of Washington, D.C.'s, most respected public policy organizations.
NGA provides governors and their senior staff members with services that range
from representing states on Capitol Hill and before the Administration on
key federal issues to developing policy reports on innovative state programs
and hosting networking seminars for state government executive branch officials.
QualityMall
The Quality Mall, a place where you can find lots of free information about
person-centered supports for people with developmental disabilities. Each
of the Mall stores has departments you can look through to learn about positive
practices that help people with developmental disabilities live, work and
participate in our communities and improve the quality of their supports.
SABE
Self Advocates Becoming Empowered (SABE), defines its mission: to ensure that
people with disabilities are treated as equals and that they are given the
same decisions, choices, rights, responsibilities, and chances to speak up
to empower themselves; opportunities to make new friends; and to learn from
their mistakes.
SDPDD
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's National Program on Self-Determination
for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (SDPDD) provides funds to 19 states
to carry out self-determination activities. The program office is part of
the Institute on Disability
at the University of New Hampshire. The office makes available financial
resources, technical assistance, and training support in self-determination.
Several monographs, a video, an introduction to self-determination, and a
National Public Radio broadcast are available.
TASH
TASH, Disability Advocacy Worldwide, is an international advocacy association
of people fighting for a society in which inclusion of all people in all aspects
of society is the norm.
UMN/ICI
The mission of the Institute on Community Integration is to improve the community
services and social supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities,
and their families, throughout the United States and abroad.
