State Specific Technical Assistance
One key function of NASDDDS is to provide assistance to member state agencies that are attempting to institute new financing methods and service delivery policies and practices. This assistance takes three forms: (a) responding to telephonic and email inquiries; (b) reviewing and commenting draft materials (e.g., Medicaid HCBS waiver requests; case management regulations/policies; etc.); and (c) providing on-site technical assistance. Over the years, NASDDDS has furnished on site technical assistance in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The assistance provided is tailored to the needs of particular state at the time. The majority of the Association's technical assistance engagements are of relatively short duration and do not involve the preparation of formal reports. From time to time, however, the NASDDDS staff undertakes more in-depth analyses that are summarized in detailed reports to the requesting state.
