NASDDDS Presents at AADMD

NASDDDS Director of Cross-Systems Strategies, Stacy Nonnemacher, PhD, was recently invited to present at the 21st Annual One Voice Conference hosted by the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry (AADMD), an organization committed to improving the quality of healthcare for people with I/DD. Attended by doctors, dentists, residents, and students, the conference centered around the voice of people with living experience. In fact, the conference opened with a reading by the poet and self-advocate, Amanda Harrinauth (pictured). Stacy represented the DD state and provider perspective on a panel that discussed emergency preparedness focusing on the importance of proactive planning considering factors that promote post-traumatic growth. She also presented a session on health inequities for people with I/DD highlighting the grant awarded to NASDDDS, NASMHPD, and NADD by ACL as a catalyst to expand the capacity of professionals in the medical field.
