NASDDDS Welcomes New
NASDDDS is pleased to announce that Ms. Teja Stokes will join our team as the Director of Contracts and Strategic Partnerships on October 21, 2019! Please join us in welcoming Ms. Stokes! The attached announcement contains information about Teja to get to know her better and also learn about the wealth of experience she brings to the organization!
Ms. Stokes brings a wealth of experience in both the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), as well as Medicaid as a whole, and will be a wonderful asset to our members and partners.
Ms. Stokes began her career in the home and community-based services (HCBS) field as a job coach, with support of and advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities forming the core of her work. She brings many years of experience in both the private and public sector in roles related to Medicaid policy, behavioral health and providing HCBS technical assistance. Despite the breadth of her experiences, her first commitment has always been to community supports for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Ms. Stokes joins NASDDDS from IBM Watson, where she has served in a number of senior roles since 2010, including providing leadership on prominent federal and state level engagements. Prior to her tenure at IBM Watson, Ms. Stokes served as Assistant Commissioner for Virginia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and held positions within the State’s Department of Medical Assistance Services. In addition, Ms. Stokes also served as Executive Director of the Arc of Virginia from 2001-2005.
Ms. Stokes holds a Master of Business Leadership and Quality Management from Upper Iowa University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Mary Washington College.
