Nebraska Family Helpline Celebrates 5 Years and Assists 13,000 FamiliesThe Nebraska Family Help Line

The Nebraska Family Help Line (NFH) opened its phone lines in January 2010 with the outcome of making it easier for families to obtain assistance when they are having a family crisis by providing a single point of contact, 24 hours a day, and seven days a week.   Trained Helpline operators screen calls to assess immediate safety needs, identify the potential level of a behavioral health crisis, make recommendations or referrals to appropriate resources, and help callers connect to emergency resources or providers. According to the article, NFH is supervised by licensed behavioral health professionals and to date, has received 18,825 calls from families seeking help with their children, and has made 19, 546 referrals.
