CMS Plans TA Visits on STPs

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is initiating visits to offer technical assistance to states regarding the State Transition Plans (STPs) required by the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Rule. CMS has said they plan to visit five or six states before the end of September. They will visit states that do not have initial STP approval as well as states working toward final approval.

According to CMS, the agency will also use the opportunity to review sites that have been selected for heightened scrutiny. CMS plans to avoid selecting states that have already been selected for visits for other purposes, including health and welfare and incident reporting reviews.
