In April 2024, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a long-anticipated rule finalizing a broad set of requirements related to ensuring access to Medicaid services. The final rule was published in the Federal Register in May of 2024, and became effective on July 9, 2024, although most provisions have compliance deadlines that are several years in the future. NASDDDS has worked with CMS, our members, and other associations to offer this library of resources to support states in their ongoing efforts to comply with the Access Regulation.
In addition to resources and educational webinars, the June 2024 NASDDDS federal policy symposium focused on the federal access regulation and its major policy impact areas. We broke the rule into high level focus areas including quality; health/welfare; and financial impact. Then, federal partners and policy experts supported attendees to navigate the complexity of the rule as it applies to their states and programs. See resources from the symposium below.
